The Rise and Fall of Mount Majestic

The Rise and Fall of Mount Majestic   By Jennifer Trafton
***** 5/5 stars   Fantasy
In this book, a girl called Persimmony discovers that Mount Majestic is a giant's stomach. The giant is sleeping but it won't stay asleep forever. "Leafeaters" (creatures that eat leaves) are digging towards the feet without knowing it and the giant might awake when the shovels hit his feet. Nobody believes Persimmony when she says that there is a giant. She is running out of time. This book is very interesting and imaginative.

School of Fear

School of Fear  By Gitty Daneshvari
***** 5/5 stars      Fantasy
This book is very funny.  In this book four kids (Madeleine Masterson, Theodore Bartholomew, Lulu Punchalower, and Garrison Feldman) are sent to the School of Fear to master their phobias. Madeleine is scared of bugs, Theo is scared of death, Lulu is scared of small spaces, and Garrison is scared of water. In the beginning it is a tad bit slow I think, but afterwards it speeds up. This book is otherwise awesome.

Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder: Bubble in the Bathtub

Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder: Bubble in the Bathtub  By Jo Nesbo (There is supposed to be a sideways slash through the last O but that letter is not on my keyboard)
***** 5/5 stars  Fantasy
This is the 2nd book in a series. The first one is Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder and is also really good.  In this book, Doctor Proctor invents a time-traveling bathtub and goes back in time. He wants to marry a woman named Juliette. Juliette's dad wouldn't let her marry Doctor Proctor in the past and he wants to prevent that from happening.  Unfortunately, he can't get back to the present, so Lisa and Nilly travel around time to find him. This book is very funny. I couldn't put it down.

Gregor the Overlander

Gregor the Overlander (The Underland Chronicles Book 1)    By Suzanne Collins
***** 5/5 stars  Fantasy
This book is very good. I like it a lot. Gregor falls down a metal grate in his kitchen -with his two year old sister Boots- into a world underground called the Underland. The people there think he is a warrior in a prophecy that is supposed to save the citizens of the Underland.  The plot is very fast-pace and exciting because you can never guess what will happen.

The City of Ember

The City of Ember   By Jeanne DuPrau
 ***** 5/5 stars      Science Fiction
This book was very interesting. It is about Ember, a city that was built by a group of people called the Builders. Ember does not have a sun and the citizens are supplied with everything they need. But they are running out of supplies. In Ember, there are often blackouts and shortages on almost everything. Lina, a 12 year old girl finds a box. In it are instructions to something. She does not know what it is for because her little sister chewed the paper with the instructions on it. She asks a boy name Doon to help her find out what was on the paper.  The book was very intriguing because it was interesting to see what it would be like to live in Ember.

Gilda Joyce Psychic Investigator

Gilda Joyce Psychic Investigator   By Jennifer Allison

***** 5/5 stars      Mystery
I really liked this book. It was funny and exciting and Gilda is a very interesting character to read about. When Gilda is visiting a relative's house she meets Juliet, the girl who lives there. Juliet's Aunt Melanie committed suicide when she jumped out of a tower and died. Juliet now thinks that she haunts the house as a ghost. Gilda thinks that Melanie is trying to tell Juliet something which leads them around San Francisco to solve the mystery. I liked the end because it made it feel like ghosts could be real and also that they aren't. It was a very good  book that was very exciting.

On the second line there will be the the ratings of the book (one star, two star, etc.) and the genre of the book. After that there will be a summary of the book (though I will not reveal the end) and what I liked and didn't like. Happy Reading!
